Marjorie A. Pastor, a graduate of Lakeview High School, was a highly respected and dedicated educator in the public schools. She served many years as chairperson of the English department and also as a high school counselor. Throughout her career, she strived to foster integrity, responsibility, honesty, self-direction and intellectual curiosity. Applicants must be Lakeview High School graduating seniors or graduates of Lakeview High School who exhibit evidence of good character and citizenship, industry and effort; ability as indicated by test data and high school grades; intention to pursue a career in an area of Communications (English, Drama, Journalism, etc.).

Scholarship Eligibility & Criteria
Award is given to a Lakeview senior pursuing a college degree with potential to succeed; good character and citizenship, industry and effort; ability as indicated by test data and high school grades; must have demonstrated outstanding performance in literature, poetry, writing or the performing arts; and intend to pursue a career in one of these fields.

An essay is required (limited to one hour of writing time), which will be written under the direction of the administration or counseling staff at Lakeview High School. If there are no qualified applicants, no new scholarship shall be issued.

Award
Amount varies according to the interest generated by the principal in the Fund. Only earnings from the scholarship fund shall be awarded. The amount will generally be $1,500.

Renewable
Renewal consideration will be given to applicants who wish to reapply during the undergraduate years. The self-directed person who “catches fire” in the undergraduate years of college in the field of English/Communications shall be considered as a first-time applicant. With renewals, up to four scholarships each year may be given.
Renewal requests are due to LSEF by May 20.
