The Thomas Jefferson grant was awarded to Lakeview High School Science teachers, Lisa Mueller and Cris Werner. They attended the Michigan Science Teachers Association state conference in March.
While there, they attended many sessions around the new science standards which the district is transitioning to for the 2018-2019 school year. Some of their sessions included how to gain knowledge in student achievement strategies, to promote scientific literacy with real world application through a claim, evidence, and reasoning approach. With the grant funds, they were also able to purchase a classroom set of student whiteboards that have graphing and data displays on one side and room for claim, reasoning statements on the other.
