Laurie (Wise) LeClear World Language* Educators Fund Application

Laurie (Wise) LeClear was a French & Spanish teacher at Lakeview Schools between 1972 and 2010. It is her belief that learning about other languages and cultures leads to knowing each other as humans which, in turn, leads to better understanding and peace. The Laurie (Wise) LeClear World Languages Educators Fund was established to enhance and support world language instruction within the Lakeview School District.

Fund Purposes

Grants from this fund may be used for the following purposes: To provide Lakeview School District teachers of world languages* with funding for supplies, field trips, and other instructional aids beyond district budgets, including, but not limited to the following examples:

  • Materials and supplies that enhance educational experiences.
  • Cooking demonstrations.
  • Field trips.
  • Cultural resources.
  • Specialized software, audio, and visual aids. Following is a listing of specific purposes for which grants may not be made:
  • Funds may not offset the general operating budget of the school district.

The typical grant award is $500.

*World languages is broadly defined as any non-English language, including Native American or American Sign Language.
