The Albert and Lucille Munk Scholarship was established by their daughter in 2023 in loving tribute of their dedication to teaching and as a love story for the ages. After graduating from Western Michigan Teacher’s College (now WMU), Albert and Lucille started their teaching careers in the 1920s at Lakeview Schools, where they met, and later married in 1933. Albert taught math and science, while Lucile taught English and history. Together Albert and Lucille were co-debate team coaches. Albert later joined the faculty at Albion College as a professor of chemistry until his retirement. After raising their children, Lucille returned to teaching at Homer Schools until her retirement. To commemorate their legacy and love for both education and animals, this scholarship supports those who have the intention to obtain a degree in veterinary medicine or in pursuit of a chemistry degree if not pre-vet.
