Linda Barnett has an MA from WMU (Counseling/Personnel), BA from WMU (Majors: Spanish, Sociology, Minor in Psychology) including coursework from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia
She taught Spanish for nine years and was a high school or middle school counselor for 35 years. Schools districts included Athens, Battle Creek Public, Portage, St Phillip, Springfield and Lakeview. At Lakeview School District she worked as a middle school and then high school counselor retiring in 2010.
After retirement Linda worked part-time as a counselor at the Calhoun Community High School, followed by seven years at the Battle Creek Area Mathematics & Science Center. The most unique job she ever had was running a halfway house for Native American teenage boys under court supervision.
Throughout it all, career education with post-secondary planning and scholarships were a big part of what she did. Linda was familiar with the generosity of the Lakeview Schools Educational Foundation and began serving on the board August 2020.
